“The right word may be effective, but no word was ever effective as a rightly timed pause.”
~ Mark Twain
Domesticity
“Of all modern notions, the worst is this: that domesticity is dull. Inside the home, they say, is dead decorum and routine; outside is adventure and variety. But the truth is that the home is the only place of liberty, the only spot on earth where a man can alter arrangements suddenly, make an experiment or indulge in a whim. The home is not the one tame place in a world of adventure; it is the one wild place in a world of rules and set tasks.”
~ G.K. Chesterton
Adjustment
“When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don’t adjust the goals, adjust the action steps.”
~ Confucius
UPDATE: Frankie in the park today on a leash, he’s got his stick, but needs to take things slowly, slowly, it’s not easy. We enjoyed Ralph’s current slideshow, but we’re not showing it to Frankie at present.
Sentience
“As human beings, not only do we seek resolution, but we also feel that we deserve resolution. However, not only do we not deserve resolution, we suffer from resolution. We don’t deserve resolution; we deserve something better than that. We deserve our birthright, which is the middle way, an open state of mind that can relax with paradox and ambiguity.”
― Pema Chödrön
UPDATE: It’s Sunday night, Frankie’s tucked up in bed, no, not really, Bowen Therapy’s taken hold. Recovery’s looking promising, but boredom’s looking menacing, at least for the bipeds.
Worthy
“A small act is worth a million thoughts.”
~ Ai Weiwei
UPDATE: Frankie started physiotherapy today with talented Bowen practitioner Marie.
Whilst not being the outstanding stick-jutsu practitioner of legend, he may once more in the the not-too-distant future roam with the gentle waves breaking on the shoreline at one of our local beaches.

Free
“I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do. I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.”
Robert A. Heinlein
On the Road Again
On the road again
Just can’t wait to get on the road again
The life I love is making music with my friends
And I can’t wait to get on the road again
On the road again
Goin’ places that I’ve never been
Seein’ things that I may never see again
And I can’t wait to get on the road again
~ Willie Nelson
UPDATE: Frankie’s been going for drives to help him alleviate some of his doggie recovery boredom. We think it’ll be awhile yet, physio allowing, to actually get on the road again, but we can tell by the tapping of his paws to the music it will happen.
