“What I dream of is an art of balance, of purity and serenity devoid of troubling or depressing subject matter – a soothing, calming influence on the mind, rather like a good armchair which provides relaxation from physical fatigue.”
~ Henri Matisse
Adjustment
“When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don’t adjust the goals, adjust the action steps.”
~ Confucius
UPDATE: Frankie in the park today on a leash, he’s got his stick, but needs to take things slowly, slowly, it’s not easy. We enjoyed Ralph’s current slideshow, but we’re not showing it to Frankie at present.
Worthy
“A small act is worth a million thoughts.”
~ Ai Weiwei
UPDATE: Frankie started physiotherapy today with talented Bowen practitioner Marie.
Whilst not being the outstanding stick-jutsu practitioner of legend, he may once more in the the not-too-distant future roam with the gentle waves breaking on the shoreline at one of our local beaches.
Goings
“I wonder where we are going,” I said.
“Wherever the way is going,” Exi replied calmly.
“But where do you suppose the way is going?”
“Wherever we go.”
“That doesn’t really make sense, does it?”
“Oh, yes. Quite good sense.”
“Why?”
“Do you know any method by which you can go one way and your path another? Not the path, but your path?”
“Well-” I hesitated. “Well, if you put it that way, I guess not. But what about crossroads? Couldn’t you choose the wrong one?”
“I suppose you could. However, if it was the wrong way you chose, it would still be your way, wouldn’t it?”
“Yes,” I answered, “yes, it probably would.”

Still Standing, yeah, yeah, yeah
Dawg on War
“All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when we are able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must appear inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.”
~ Sun Tzu
Note: Dawg’s reminder about evasion though appearing cooperative.
Comedy
The Call
“He was mastered by the sheer surging of life, the tidal wave of being, the perfect joy of each separate muscle, joint and sinew in that it was everything that was not death, that it was aglow and rampant, expressing itself in movement, flying exultantly under the stars.”
~ Jack London, The Call of the Wild
Note: Was reminded of this quote the other day after witnessing a blue heeler determinedly swimming after a swan in the local Tamar tides. Relates to Frankie as well but with stick not swan.
p.s. Blue dog and swan survived for another day.
