“As spiritual searchers we need to become freer and freer of the attachment to our own smallness in which we get occupied with me-me-me. Pondering on large ideas or standing in front of things which remind us of a vast scale can free us from acquisitiveness and competitiveness and from our likes and dislikes. If we sit with an increasing stillness of the body, and attune our mind to the sky or to the ocean or to the myriad stars at night, or any other indicators of vastness, the mind gradually stills and the heart is filled with quiet joy. Also recalling our own experiences in which we acted generously or with compassion for the simple delight of it without expectation of any gain can give us more confidence in the existence of a deeper goodness from which we may deviate. ~ Ravi Ravindra

“Sometimes a scent is more evocative than a photo or an image. It is a primer for the deflagration of sensation, emotions, desires, uncontrollable atmospheres, dejavus that flood and wrap us like honey, until they make us drown in an unrepeatable moment of wellbeing… olfactory hallucinations that lead us anywhere: to the North of any South, to the East of any West…”

“I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do. I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.”
Robert A. Heinlein

Great Thoughts

“All truly great thoughts are conceived while walking.”
~ Friedrich Nietzsche

UPDATE: Whilst still not up for a vigorous walk, Frankie whilst convalescing is taking the time to re-read some of his favourite authors, catch up on the latest TED talks and contemplate a future trek or two.

“We don’t set out to save the world; we set out to wonder how other people are doing and to reflect on how our actions affect other people’s hearts.”
~ Pema Chodron

Frankie is home and convalescing, hopefully he’ll be back to his spry self shortly, meantime he’s cosy in his nest.

“I have just three things to teach: simplicity, patience, compassion. These three are your greatest treasures.”
~ Lao Tzu

UPDATE: Frankie’s still in hospital for observation but is being well treated and doted on by the angelic staff and is possibly doing some constructive networking.

“I really loved animals when I was little – my friend and I had an imaginary vet’s office; we would mime doing surgery on animals. We treated more injuries than illnesses – fixing a baby bear with a broken leg, removing a tumor. Of course, our surgeries would take about five seconds; that’s how good we were.”
~ Hannah Murray

Note: Frankie is in hospital tonight with a possible spine injury, hopefully minor, thank you for your well wishes, we’ll keep you updated. Those sticks will be answerable!

Space & Time

“Overcome space, and all we have left is HERE. Overcome time, and all we have left is NOW.”
~ Richard Bach

Tomorrow: Special Treats, Postcards of my latest adventures on the beach at Beechford

“There was a water-drop, it joined the sea,
A speck of dust, it was fused with earth;
what of your entering and leaving this world?
A fly appeared, and disappeared.”

~ Omar Khayy’am
